Virginia Beach Fishing Pier Report | September 25 2017
The season at the VA Beach Fishing Pier is winding down fast. This last week of Sept the hours of operation will be 8 AM to 10 PM. After that October hours will be 8 AM to 8PM.
Catches are consistent with what we expect in the Fall. Spot, Speckled Trout, Croaker and small Black Drum have been plentiful at times, but the daily runs we used to see are more sporatic. Puppy Drum and Bluefish are available some days, but it’s really hard to predict when they will show up.
Some citation Red Drum have been caught along with the Sharks and Rays that cruise the coast this time of year.
The area has been spared the devastating weather that the hurricanes have been bringing areas south of us, but it has been rough along the Virginia coast and has definitely affected the fishing.this year.
Anglers can still look forward to some great fishing, but may have to tailor their trips to the fickle weather we can expect this time of year.
